WELCOME NEWS FOR FARMS AFFECTED BY FOOT AND MOUTH

There could be good news at last for South Cumbrian farmers affected by the aftermath of foot and mouth disease a decade ago.
A report claims that the ongoing culling of animals may now be unnecessary.
Research has shown that any future outbreak could be controlled by closer control and early slaughter of infected animals only.
A number of local farms still have to operate under restrictions since the outbreak in 2001.
