LOCAL MAN DIES AT GREAT NORTH SWIM

A local man has died at this year’s Great North Swim on Windermere.
Police say the man was 46-years-old and from Cumbria.

A statement from the event organiser said they offered their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the individual concerned.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and next of kin are being informed.

David Hart from Nova International said: “We deeply regret the tragic loss of life at the Great North Swim today”.

“In the case of any fatality or injury, there is a strictly planned procedure laid down which must be adhered to.

“We must ensure the next of kin are informed before further comment is made.”
