KENDAL COLLEGE MAN AWARDED “APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR” TITLE

Matthew Brown from United Utilities has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at Kendal College’s end of year celebration of achievement.
He joined the college two years ago after working for a chef for several years.
The college put him in touch with the company who gave him a job while also studying on a day-release basis.
Work based Assessor/tutor, Peter Cooper said: “Matthew had shown the College how serious he was about gaining his qualification in level 2 but then went on to level 3 and completed in record time, passing all his exams and completing his portfolio to an excellent standard.
“Matthew has demonstrated just how, with the right skills, training and determination, it is possible to forge a new career in a very short space of time.”
Peter wished him all the best with his future career within the industry, at the awards ceremony which was attended by over 200 people, and said: “we are more than just a training provider here at Kendal College. Graded Outstanding by Ofsted, we have fantastic acilities, high success rates and lecturing staff that have all been a part of the local motor industry and are passionate about Kendal College its motor vehicle department”.
