WORK BEGINS ON A590

Motorists can expect delays when the next phase of drainage work on the A590 begins today.
The £80,000 project will see roadworks on the westbound lane near Fiddlers Hall, between Newby Bridge and High Newton.
Work lasts for three weeks.
Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee, said, “This is an important scheme to improve the drainage of the A590 in this part of Cumbria. The improvement will also reduce pollution run-off.
“We have worked hard to consider the impact of this scheme on road users. We will only be working at the site outside peak hours and the scheme has been re-designed to remove some of the traffic management we had previously envisaged will which reduce delays.”
