MAROONED
There’s just a week to go before a team of people with sturdy sea legs begin a special fundraising event in the middle of Lake Windermere.
Action for Children, which supports children and families across Barrow, Millom and Workington, will be marooning volunteers on a boat with just their mobile phones.
They’ll have to stay onboard until each has raised a rescue fee of £1,000, by calling friends and colleagues to make a plea for donations.
WINDERMERE FERRY
The Windermere ferry will be out of action later this week.
It’s undergoing essential maintenance work on Friday between 10am and 2pm, as engineers work on the cable mechanism that pulls the vessel across the lake.
It will be running during the morning and evening rush hour.
RANGERS
Young people are being invited to the Lake District Visitors Centre today, to find out more about becoming a National Park Ranger.
A taster day’s being held for one of the area’s most sought after jobs, at Brockhole until 3 o’clock this afternoon.
