MURDER ENQUIRY CONTINUES FOLLOWING KENDAL FLAT BLAZE

Posted: January 28, 2012

A murder investigation continues after the death of a woman in a suspected arson attack in Kendal.

35-year old Stacey Mackie suffered severe burns in the blaze at a flat on Crag View on the Sandylands estate just after midnight on Friday.

She died yesterday afternoon in hospital in Manchester.

Before she passed away, a 61-year old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing arson with intent to endanger life.

He’s being treated himself at Furness General Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the Crag View area of Kendal at around midnight on Thursday 26th January into the early hours of Friday 27th January 2012 to contact them. They are also keen to speak to anyone who has spoken to Stacey recently, seen her, or seen her speaking to a man over recent days.
Anyone with information should call DCI Mike Forrester or the Kendal Public Protection Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
