KENDAL MURDER TRIAL CONTINUES
Posted: June 14, 2012
The jury at Carlisle Crown Court has today heard evidence from some of the police officers who made repeated attempts to get into a Kendal woman’s flat, who died from massive burns.
Police were called to Stacie Mackie’s home after going there to investigate reports that a man was inside with an axe.
The court’s heard how the 35 year old died after allegedly being set on fire by a man who doused her in white spirit at her flat on Crag View just after midnight on Friday, January the 27th.
The jury’s heard how before she died, she managed to tell police it was 61-year-old Terrence Armer who had attacked her.
Officers have today described how, after smashing the door down, they were met by such a thick wall of smoke that they couldn’t get more than few feet inside before having to turn back.
Soon afterwards Ms Mackie emerged, badly burned, and Armer was later found at the flat’s window, struggling for breath.
Armer, of Buttery Well Road has pleaded not guilty to murder.
The trial is expected to last until the middle of next week.
